Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation

BIMSTEC is a regional organisation comprising seven member states lying in the littoral and adjacent areas of the Bay of Bengal. Nepal has been a member since 1997 and actively participates in its summits and sector-specific working groups.

Nepal's Role
Nepal chaired BIMSTEC's Counter-Terrorism & Transnational Crime sector and has consistently called for enhanced connectivity within the region. Nepal hosted the Fourth BIMSTEC Summit in Kathmandu in 2018.
